Vietnam Steel Corporation (VSC) is a state-owned enterprise established under Prime Minister Decision No. 255/TTG dated April 29, 1995. VSC is one of corporations, being built up as strong national economic models. At present, VSC has 12 subsidiaries and 14 joint-ventures located in all major provinces over the country (among which there are 8 joint-ventures between VSC subsidiaries and foreign partners).

Main field of operations:
- Exploiting iron ores, coal and other raw materials related to steel-producing industry
- Producing steel, pig iron and other metals; refractory materials; metallurgical equipments and spare parts; downstream and non-ferrous products (ceramic tiles, cement etc.)
- Trading in steel products, billet, scrap, non-ferrous metals and other metallurgical products
-  Providing services related to steel industry
-  Designing, manufacturing, building and installing facilities to serve steel production as well as other related industries.
- Training staffs, conducting technical and scientific researches in steel industry
-  Coordinating with functional agencies in dispatching Vietnamese manpower to overseas.
