Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) was established on September 7, 1945, five days after President Ho Chi Minh read the declaration of independence at Ba Dinh Square, marking the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.

On September 7, 2005, VOV will proudly mark the 60th anniversary of its establishment and its tradition of contributing to national construction and defence.

With a frequency coverage of more than 90 percent of the country and a regular number of listeners from 70 countries around the world, VOV continues to be one of the most effective means of media in Vietnam, as well as a close friend of domestic and foreign listeners. During the current modernisation and industrialisation process, VOV has been striving to become an integrated communication network with the final aim of better meeting the demand of readers and listeners.
