BlueScope Steel successfully operates steel rolling, coating and painting plants. These facilities are complemented by a network of 23 roll-forming facilities across 12 countries in the Asia Pacific region that is unmatched by any steel company.

BlueScope Steel has had an operational presence in Vietnam for over ten years commencing in 1993 with the commissioning of a building products business at Dong Nai province. Subsequently, an additional facility was constructed at Ha Tay province in 1996.  Sales of BlueScope Steel metallic coated and painted steel products to customers in Vietnam has increased strongly since commencing in the late 1990’s.

Our company is investing US$105 million to construct a new world-class flat steel metallic coating and painting facility to be located in Phu My 1 Industrial Zone, Ba Ria – Vung Tau province. The new facility will have an annual production capacity of 125,000 tonnes of metallic coated and 50,000 tonnes of painted flat steel products.

When the new plant is operational in early 2006, our business will directly serve domestic customers ranging across the building and construction as well as manufacturing industries.  Principal products from this facility will include high-performance building materials such as Clean COLORBOND® pre-painted steel and ZINCALUME® aluminium/zinc alloy-coated steel.  Other brands include P-ZACS® pre-painted steel and  Ton Lanh ZACS® aluminium/zinc alloy coated steel.
